It's been a tough month for the town's top Chinese restaurants. Chef Liu's Kitchen, named Best Chinese Restaurant in the Best of Denver 2014, closed abruptly in Aurora; it will be replaced by a pho restaurant. And now East Asia Garden, our Best Chinese Restaurant in the Best of Denver 2013, has shuttered on South Broadway -- but at least it will be returning, if in an altered form in a different location. A banner hanging on the original restaurant notes that it will reopen at 250 Steele Street, under the name Hasu Asian Bistro & Sushi.

But while that means the restaurant won't be gone for good, the new address isn't particularly reassuring: 250 Steele Street has a reputation as a black hole, one that has swallowed numerous eateries, including Ondo's, French 250 and Tambien.

According to a note posted on the door of the original location, Hasu should open within a month.
