With the passing of a ceremonial ember procured from the last opened outpost, Famous Dave's, the fifteen-year-old Minnesota-based barbecue chain that hawks ribs and sandwiches all over the country, opened its third Denver location today, just in time for lunch.

The new wood-bedecked space boasts a whopping 300 seats and is manned by a staff of 180 bartenders, servers and cooks that, as we reported a couple of weeks ago, are out to prove that the new Aurora spot isn't perceived as just another chain, particularly when it comes to the food.

"We're doing scratch-made sides and smoking everything in-house," says Dallas Massey, the director of marketing for the restaurant. As do the rest of the Famous Dave's franchises around the country.

And like those other Famous Dave's, the restaurant at 15725 East Briarwood Circle features brisket, ribs, a full bar and trash can lid feasts, which include piles of meat and sides suitable for two people.

"We're also doing daily lunch specials and happy hour specials," Massey says.

The eatery is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
