The Place: Delite 32 South Broadway; 303-722-1278.

The Hours: Monday through Friday from 3 until 7 p.m.

The Deal: Appetizers range from $2 to $4; all beer, well drinks and select red and white wines by the glass are half-price.

The Digs: Delite is located next door sister restaurant Deluxe, which opened in 2006 amid South Broadway's boutiques, bars and restaurants. Walking into Delite is like walking into a tastefully trendy and impeccably clean dive bar. The tavern feel is emphasized with large spherical lights that accent the room just enough so that it's not completely dark; the decor is subtle yet charming; and the room is open and spacious.

The Verdict: Happy hour at Delite is a pleasant experience that's easy on the wallet and pleasing to the palate. Deciding what to eat may be the most stressful part of your happy hour experience, because the menu is, well, delightful. Try the masa fried oyster shooters, served in a china spoon with spicy salsa fresca and smoked jalapeno aioli ($6), or the incredibly tasty black bean sopes, which are perfect for sharing with a drinking companion ($3). The only downfall to our Delite experience was a distracted bartender who didn't realize that he'd forgotten our food order -- even after we reminded him. But nobody's perfect, and the fact that we were eating and drinking for next to nothing quickly made up for service glitches.

Overall Grade: B
