The 16th Street Mall is in the news these days. The same day that Patricia Calhoun's list of  ten reasons to love the 16th Street Mall went live, two tourists from California dining at the Rock Bottom Brewery wound up beaten up by a crowd of still unidentified miscreants. But the mall definitely has its fans, especially during the daytime hours. Says Judith:

I walk the mall every day at lunchtime, and never have a problem. Of course, I hold tight to my purse — except when I'm in Walgreens, when I need to get my wallet. That sushi bar is the best deal in town!

Have you tried the sushi at the revamped Walgreens on the 16th Street Mall? Or do you find the rest of the mall too raw in general?

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
