The action is picking up on South Pearl Street.
Izakaya Den has set a May target date for moving to its new home by Sushi Den, and right next door to that, in the building at 1475 South Pearl that was formerly occupied by India's Pearl, Tavern Hospitality Group is looking at a March ground-breaking for the future
Tavern Platt Park.

Tavern Hospitality Group, the Colorado-born and -bred company headed by Frank Schultz and his mother and stepfather, Terry and Al Papay, bought the building last summer, and had originally wanted to start on construction in August. But first Schultz worked to make sure the liquor-license transfer went smoothly (it did), and also bought two other nearby properties, including the spot that's currently home to Buchtel Motors, to guarantee that Tavern Platt Park will have plenty of parking.
After talking to neighbors, Schulz moved a planned patio from the back of the building to the front; Tavern Platte Park will also have a rooftop patio. Although THG has emphasized sustainability before, "this will be the first green Tavern," Schultz says. "We're escalating that to use more Colorado products, Colorado brands."
But first THG has to break ground on the project.
THG is anticipating that Tavern Platt Park will open nine months after the ground-breaking -- late in 2013.
