We all know that upstart Echo Mountain, at 19285 Highway 103, is the closest ski/snowboard area to Denver -- but what goes on there during the summer? Weddings, it turns out, plus tonight's Brewmaster's Dinner with Boulder Beer's David Zuckerman.

If you'd like to take part in the optional guided hike to Chief Mountain, arrive at 4:30 p.m.; otherwise, the welcome reception for the four-course dinner starts at 6 p.m. Keep reading for a taste of the menu:

Welcome/first course: Planet Porter bratwurst with Mojo mustard accompaniments.

Second course: Mixed greens salad with strawberries, blue cheese crumbles, pecans and balsamic drizzle.

Third course: Summer citrus-marinated Red Bird Farms chicken with blueberry corn salsa, chipotle sweet-potato mash and grilled summer vegetable kabobs.

Dessert: Planet Porter vanilla bean float with a Planet Porter chocolate brownie.

The dinner is $40; call 303-325-7347.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
