Back in 2018, Paul Simon announced his retirement from touring, writing an open letter to his Homeward Bound Tour would be “bringing my performing career to a natural end.” His Fiddler’s Green concert that May had fans in tears.

Fortunately, Simon changed his mind. Last year, his A Quiet Celebration Tour came to Denver for three nights at the Paramount that left those same fans celebrating his infectious spirituality and impressive skills. While that portion of the tour focused on more intimate venues, the legendary singer-songwriter is going big when A Quiet Celebration Tour returns this year. .

Big, as in Red Rocks.

Simon will pick up his tour on June 4 in Palo Alto, California, then head to Morrison for shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on June 12 and June 13. The tour will end at Ravinia in Highland Park, Illinois, on July 18.

Each show will be in two parts, opening with a performance of the Grammy-nominated Seven Psalms, a stunning, 33-minute continuous piece of music. After a brief intermission, the show will resume with Simon performing many of his greatest hits and many deep cuts from his incredible career. With any luck, he’ll also share some stories from that career, as he did at the Paramount shows.

At Red Rocks, Simon’s band will include Edie Brickell (vocals), Mark Stewart (guitar), Bakithi Kumalo (bass), Andy Snitzer (saxophone), Jamey Haddad (percussion), Mick Rossi (piano, keys), Gyan Riley (guitar), Matt Chamberlin (drums), Nancy Stagnitta (flute), Caleb Burhans (viola) and Eugene Friesen (cello).

Tickets for all shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, February 6, at Ticketmaster.
