Free yoga, huge bunny rabbits and inner peace at the Dikeou Collection

For those interested in down-dogging surrounded by giant pink bunnies, the Dikeou Collection has you covered. Last week, the fifth-floor art collection in LoDo hosted its first yoga class, which is set to continue every Wednesday afternoon. Vital Yoga's Therese Chavez teaches the donation-based Anusara class in the colorful private art collection, which is filled with a diverse variety of installations and intriguing pieces to look at while perfecting your poses.

This art by Paul Ramirez Jonas is just one of the many pieces you might find yourself gazing at during one-legged king pigeon pose.

"The whole point of our programming is to try to allow people to engage with the collection in different ways," explains Dikeou Collection Director Jaime Kopke. While the Collection hosts a variety of events -- from movie nights to drawing classes -- this one is specifically targeted at downtown workers who might need to slow down and de-stress with yoga on their lunch hour.

Kopke says that what might make this experience different from a standard yoga class is the unique atmosphere. "People can come early and stay late to look at the artwork," she says. "Maybe it helps them kind of slow down and perhaps it's a little more peaceful, because the atmosphere and space is quiet and allows for people to have a lot of introspection." There are not many places where you can meditate in Savasana near a larger-than-life sculpture of a man in a plaid shirt.
