One sex assault in a neighborhood is terrifying enough. Two sex assaults are even worse, particularly when the reports come barely 24 hours apart.

The locations are in the vicinity of Capitol Hill. Denver police are seeking a suspect or suspects in cases that are said to have taken place within six blocks of each other.

According to the Denver Police Department, the first attack took place at around 7 a.m. on the 1300 block of North Corona Street, an area captured in the following interactive graphic. If you have problems seeing the image, click "View Larger Map."

View Larger MapThe victim in the case told cops she arrived home around then and found an "unknown suspect" inside her apartment.

There, he sexually assaulted her.

Afterward, he ran away. The victim isn't sure what direction he went.
No sketch of the suspect has been released to date, but he's described as a black male with light-to-medium skin.

He stood approximately six feet in height, wore his hair very short and had no facial hair.

His clothing was black with the exception of tan-colored, worn-out Oxford-style dress shoes.
The description adds, in a rather odd touch, that he "spoke perfect English and did not appear to be homeless."

The DPD sent out a crime alert on this horrifying incident mid-morning yesterday — and then issued one about the second case late last night, less than twelve hours later.

The second sex assault took place in an alley on the 1800 block of Pennsylvania. As 9News points out, this address is just six blocks from 1300 Corona.

Here's an interactive graphic showing the 1800 block of Pennsylvania.

The teenager was walking nearby when she was grabbed from behind and sexually assaulted.

The police don't have a description of the suspect in the second case. As such, there's no telling if he was the same person who sexually assaulted the woman on the 1300 block of North Corona, or if he's someone else entirely — at least not yet.

Either way, the reports are guaranteed to have put many people in the area on edge.

If you have any information about either of these incidents, you're encouraged to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). Look below to see a CBS4 report about the 1300 North Corona attack.
