Here’s what’s hot this week in music on the Front Range: On the concert front, new shows featuring the Shins, James Taylor and Explosions in the Sky were announced; In the Whale, Tennis and FaceMan got spins on local radio; and recent albums from Leonard Cohen, Matador, Young Jeezy and Lana Del Rey were the top sellers at our local record stores. This Just In: New Concerts and On-Sale Dates


The Shins, who are set to release Port of Morrow on March 20, headline Red Rocks on Tuesday, May 29, with The Head and the Heart and Blind Pilot opening. General admission and reserved tickets ($36.50-$43.75) go on sale Friday, February 10, at 10 a.m. James Taylor will also be at Red Rocks on Monday, July 23, and tickets ($45-$85) go on sale Friday, February 10, at 10 a.m. Explosions in the Sky hits the Boulder Theater on Wednesday, April 5; tickets ($20-$22.50) go on sale on Friday, February 10, at 10 a.m.

Matador’s Intended Play compilation came in first at Albums on the Hill and Young Jeezy‘s TM 103 moved back to the top slot at Independent Records. Lana Del Rey‘s Born to Die, released last week on Interscope, came in third at Independent while coming in second at Twist & Shout.
