Independent Journalism in Denver Needs You

We need to raise $25,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.

$25,000

If there’s any area in Denver where a posse of clowns roaming the streets could seem remotely commonplace, it would have to be East Colfax Avenue. That’s a big part of the reason RAFT Colorado (Resource Area for Teaching) boardmembers decided to hold their annual Clown Crawl fundraiser on the strip.

“Last year, a few people ended up giving us donations on the streets. And of course, on Colfax we got the crackheads, but they got into it,” recalls RAFT Colorado member Elizabeth Norris.

So put on your happy face and red nose (if you don’t have one, someone usually brings extras, says Norris) and meet at the Goosetown Tavern, 3242 East Colfax Avenue, at 8 p.m. for the bar crawl. Next up will be Atomic Cowboy and then Rock Bar. Call 303-263-0082 or go to www.raftcolorado.org for more information.

Sat., Nov. 18, 8 p.m.
