The old adage is, “March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb,” but there’s nothing docile or doe-eyed about Copper Sunsation, Copper Mountain’s three-weekend-long end-of-season bash.

And how does one say farewell, Copper style? With Colorado’s Largest Easter Egg Hunt, the Peanut Butter & Rail Jam, Helly Hanson’s Battle of Battles (where ski and snowboard teams compete in a Viking-inspired, on-hill match) and bands. Lots of bands.

“My favorite part is the live music,” says public-relations manager Lauren Pelletreau. “The stage is situated so it faces the south. We get sun till the very last moment of the day.” The Turntable Enabler will lead off the live-music lineup at noon, followed by the John Popper Project at 2 p.m. and De La Soul at 4.

Sunsation will shine today and tomorrow, and each Saturday and Sunday through April 15. Daytime concerts and events are free; costs for nighttime shows vary. Get tickets at the Union Creek day lodge, Copper One day lodge or Copper Station, or at the door. Call 1-866-841-2481 or visit www.coppersunsation.com for more information and a full schedule.
March 31-April 15

Will you step up to support Westword this year?

At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $22,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
