November got off to a strong start with Día de los Muertos events that will continue through the weekend (see our Day of the Dead list here), overlapping with the start of Denver Arts Week, which includes special deals at dozens of cultural institutions – many of them free.

DFF Virtual Reality Arcade

As part of the 44th Denver Film Festival, the Virtual Reality Arcade is returning. Explore the best of new-cinema storytelling through twelve virtual reality experiences curated from all over the globe – including favorites from SXSW, Tribeca, Venice International Film Festival and Sundance. There are free times daily

Historic Persse Place Open House
Sunday, November 7, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Roxborough State Park, 4751 East Roxborough Drive, Littleton
Hike the Fountain Valley Trail to this nationally registered historic home. Naturalists will share stories of the people who lived here in the early 1900s. The program is free, but you’ll need to show a parks pass or pay admission to get into Roxborough. Find out more here.

Denver Public Art Tour: Denver Performing Arts Complex

Denver Performing Arts Complex
Denver Arts & Venues is offering three free tours of public art this week, including one of the Denver Performing Arts Complex at 1 p.m., and one of 14th Street on November 9; there will be a tour of the Colorado Convention Center on November 21. The Legacy of Chicano Theater: A Conversation With Tony Garcia
