We love our cons in Colorado, and there’s no con more splendid than MileHiCon, which unfolds this weekend at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center — for its 44th year. By tradition, MileHiCon is about books, but it’s also about the many worlds of genre fiction, from tried-and-true science fiction to the new wave of steampunk and zombie novels.

So if you go, expect to see a three-day parade of top authors, both local and national, along with the stuff that makes a con silly and fun: costume contests, workshops on how to wield your Jedi light-saber, zombie defense tactics and the world-famous Critter Crunch, a robot war billed as the “ultimate animatronic death match.”
You get the picture. Wind up your gears and head over the MileHiCon, which begins today at 2 p.m. and runs nonstop through 5 p.m. Sunday. Registration is at the door only now; get a three-day pass for $46 or opt for a daily pass, ranging from $18 to $22 (children under 12 pay half-price).
