Nancy Norton has been out of the local stand-up circle for about two years. Once a regular act at Comedy Works and a national touring comedian, the Boulder-based riot-raiser left the scene to focus on adopting a boy from Nepal. She returns to the stage tonight at the Oriental Theater, 4335 West 44th Avenue, but not for the usual laughs.

Norton will be emceeing a benefit show to raise money for the orphanage where she adopted her son. The Nepali center has been housed in a rental facility that no longer has the capacity for its growing number of children; Norton plans to donate all proceeds from the event to help build a new orphanage outside the Kathmandu Valley.

The ever-fabulous drag rockers the Dead Sinatras will headline the 8 p.m. show, which will also include a performance by acoustic guitarist Lynn Patrick and a short film by Norton. Norton says she hopes that the five-minute flick, which shows scenes from her six months in Nepal, will inspire people to forge an ongoing relationship with the orphanage.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m.; tickets are $10. For more information on the orphanage, go to www.ncwsc.org; for the show, visit www.myspace.com/theorientaltheater or call 303-455-2124.
Sun., March 25, 7:30 p.m.
