Profession: I work in health care.

Favorite film: An old classic is Gone With the Wind. A more recent one I really liked is Django Unchained.

2013 jam: “Disarm,” by Smashing Pumpkins.

Style inspirations/icons: Bettie Page is one of the first ones I looked up to. Silent-film actress Clara Bow is stunning. Also, some of the people that Denver labels seedy, like the homeless, are inspiring. I’d like to write about the characters I meet one day.

These are Orland’s black patterned Coach shoes, a brand that she loves. “I dress on my mood. No one can put me in a bracket. I express myself through my clothes. This is my toned-down look. This is as basic as I get, in jeans and a hoodie. I usually dress more elaborate,” says Orland. On this day she also accessorized with a Super Big Gulp iced tea from 7-Eleven and a pair of pink headphones.

Style analysis: Sometimes being over the top and excessive in fashion can be fun, and other times it’s more practical to tone it down. Orland does so with a black hoodie, denim jeans and Coach kicks. This muted pallet allows her red bob haircut to pop and her pink headphones to stand out as well. Her look is inspired by the people she meets, as well as classic Hollywood icons like Bettie Page and Clara Bow, which when combined create an image of Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

Always honor your style icons and inspirations, Denver.
