Blossoms of Light: Now through January 12: A dazzling and ever-changing display of light and color at the Denver Botanic Gardens, 4:30-9 p.m. nightly (closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas), $18-$31 (free for children two and under); Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York Street, 720-865-3500, botanicgardens.org.Booked for the Holidays: Now through January 4. Seven Douglas County library locations are booked for the holidays, with a Forest of Stories exhibit that includes 175 decorated trees, all dressed up in stories — from favorite children's tales and classic literature to crime thrillers, mysteries and more. Denver City and County Building: Now through January 26. The Denver City and County Building is aglow through the Stock Show, with nightly light and music shows from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m.
Downtown Denver Rink: Now through February 2. The Downtown Denver Ice Rink is back at 16th and Arapahoe streets, with free skating daily (skate rentals available). Through December 24, the hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Get more details here.
Holiday Lights Mini Golf: Now through January 5: A holiday-themed light display with over 100,000 interactive lights on all three courses, 5-9 p.m. nightly except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day; free to $15.50 ($8 to $12 group of ten or more) at the gate only; Adventure Golf and Raceway, 9650 Sheridan Boulevard, Westminster, 303-650-7587, adventuregolfandraceway.com.
Denver Zoo Lights: Now through January 7. The Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance has kicked off its 34th annual Zoo Lights, with the eighty-acre facility at 2300 Steele Street boasting more than 3 million sparkling LED lights, immersive themed light installations, seasonal craft cocktails and holiday treats and much more. Tickets start at $25 for adults and seniors and $18 for kids 3 and up (kids 2 and under are free) and can be purchased at DenverZoo.org.
The Polar Express Train Ride: Now through January 4: The award-winning children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg comes alive during a festive vintage steam train ride; trains leave at 4:55, 6:30 and 8 p.m., $29-$83. Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, 479 Main Avenue, Durango, durangotrain.com.
Trail of Lights: Now through January 4 at Chatfield Farms, a branch of the Denver Botanic Gardens. Walk along a winding path glistening with lights that illuminate the Colorado countryside.
