For Justice Kwesi Kwarteng, Colorado Fashion Week has been largely a labor of love -- and hard work. Inspired by Fern Mallis, the former executive director of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and founder of 7th on Sixth Productions, since 2011 CFW has focused on building an economically sustainable fashion industry in Colorado. And to push that goal, before this fall's Colorado Fashion Week, Karteng will present CFW's first annual Preview Fashion Market & Fundraiser Showcase on Thursday, July 31.
"We see the July 31 event as a unique and perfect opportunity for the greater Denver community to actively partake in the collective vision of CFW by coming out to shop the collections of the presenting designers. With this event being the first in a series of future fashion market showcases, we want to focus on designers and labels that can sell to the eager fashion consumer," says Kwarteng.
The featured designers in the showcase:
Salwa Owens The Salwa Owens summer collection will officially launch at CFW's Fundraiser Preview Market Event. Made from light, airy fabrics, the mix-and-match pieces feature one-of-a-kind prints exclusive to Owens' line. Shayne Watson RTW Shayne Watson designs, which are sold across North America, integrate cultural, Native American influences in "new world" ways. His designs take the grit of Navajo culture and marry it with sophisticated lines and clean tailoring. Lotti by Amy Cabrera Amy Cabrera is a multifaceted artist who expresses herself through hairstyling and fashion design. She will be launching her brand-new collection at the fundraiser. Lotti is for women who crave the effortless union between casual and classic in their appearance, she says.
