As the local brewery scene continues to evolve and grow, we’re rounding up the news, events and new releases you need to know about. Here’s the latest:

Cerebral Brewing Announces Third Taproom
The Story: As Westword reported on November 13, the brewery is teaming up with Outside Pizza for the project in the former Oasis Brewing space.
The Scoop:  Located at 3257 Lowell Boulevard in the West Highland neighborhood, it is expected to open in the spring of 2025. In the short term, Cerebral is hosting a pop-up sneak peek in the space as part of its three-week-long celebration of its ninth anniversary. It will take place Friday, November 22, through Sunday, November 24, starting at 11 a.m. each day with a curated food menu from Outside Pizza.

Cerebral won’t brew on site, and Outside Pizza will occupy the area of the building that used to house the brewery when Oasis was a tenant. Cerebral co-founder and CEO Sean Buchan says the two businesses will occupy the entire building. “We’re fortunate in that much of the space will remain the same in terms of layout,” he notes, adding that Cerebral has hosted Outside Pizza for years at its original Congress Park taproom. “We’ve always enjoyed working with them. They have an incredible product and they’re genuinely awesome people.”

Another bonus to the partnership: Both businesses share a similar ethos in focusing on sustainability. Outside Pizza focuses on limiting waste by keeping a tight, curated menu while Cerebral has made it a mission to reduce plastic waste as much as possible. For example, the brewery uses cardboard four-pack holders, eliminating over 12,000 pounds of plastic annually.

Beer of the Week

Farmhouse Saison from Cellar West Brewery, Saison, 6.3 percent ABV
From the Brewery: A soft body with a rustic medley of wheat, rye and oats and some of our European hops in the kettle. We ferment this beer in stainless with a house blend of spicy Belgian yeasts.
From the Glass: A hefty white head is the most proper greeting a beer can have, and Farmhouse Saison aces that test. The nose is full of spicy black pepper, and the first sip balances that spice with a bit of sweet bubblegum and zesty citrus. Clove and phenol play more of a role as the beer warms, as does a touch of juicy peach, and the mélange of flavors gets slightly funky in the best sort of way. The finish is dry, and a minerally, acid note emphasizes the black pepper. Another winner from a wonderful brewery.
Availability: On draft and in cans.
