The losers? Kylie Minogue fans. The Australian pop icon was scheduled to perform at Ball Arena that night; it would have been her first performance in Denver. But the singer took the cancellation in stride. On April 23, she wrote this on social media: "Hi, Lovers. I'm so sorry that we're not able to visit Denver on the Tension Tour due to a scheduling conflict with the NBA playoffs. I was really looking forward to performing in Colorado for the first time!! Sending my best to the Denver Nuggets for their hometown games, and I really hope to visit you all in Denver soon. Love Kylie."
In their comments on the Westword Facebook page, music lovers aren't nearly as chill. Says Sophie:
It's pretty crazy how little people value artists. She's a legend. And an icon. I can't even name a Nugget.Suggests Jason:
Just do them both on the same night. Basketball gets done, then fire up the music. Make the tickets $300. If you don’t like the music, leave after the game and scalp barcode #2 in the parking lot. Innovate.Adds Nikolas:
Would love to see the Venn diagram of NBA fans and Kylie Minogue fans. Don’t think those circles could be further apart.Wonders Brendan:
Kylie who?Responds Torry:
You must be fucking joking.Replies Brendan:
Why? Because I don't listen to crappy, over-produced, stupid pop music that appeals to the lowest common denominator?Concludes Cynthia:
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Were you going to Kylie Minogue? What do you think of the cancellation? Post a comment or share your thoughts at [email protected].
