Governor Jared Polis is a known Swiftie, whether he's littering press releases with song references or attending the Eras Tour in Denver.

So it wasn't surprising when Polis threw his hat in the ring as an officiate for the mega pop star's wedding to Travis Kelce.
Taylor Swift and Kelce set the internet ablaze August 26 after announcing their engagement in a carousel of photos on Instagram that showed the Kansas City Chiefs tight end getting down on one knee. The couple chose Swift's song "So High School" to accompany the post, which was captioned, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨"

"So High School" is just one of Swift's songs about Kelce on The Tortured Poets Department, along with "The Alchemy."

Swift and Kelce's highly publicized romance dates back to the summer of 2023; the couple went public that fall. Swift was spotted at several Chiefs games throughout subsequent seasons, including the Super Bowl, while Kelce would pop up at her Eras Tour shows. Most recently, Swift appeared on his podcast to announce her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Polis was thrilled with the news, taking to X to share his jubilation (with song references, of course). "Congrats Taylor and Travis! I always knew you two were End Game. Your Love Story is So High School and Colorado Swifties are Down Bad with excitement over your engagement. Skip Florida!!! and exchange your Paper Rings in the majestic Rocky Mountains," he wrote, signing off with his name, title and "Certified Swiftie Wedding Officiant."

The governor takes any opportunity he can to name-drop the singer. Weeks ago, after Swift bought back the rights to her music, he captioned a post, "From country to pop, Taylor Swift now owns all her work. And from standing up to Washington, DC to fighting back against tariffs, cutting red tape, and building an inclusive Colorado For All, Colorado owns all the ways we are lowering costs and building a brighter future for all Coloradans."

He even penned a color-coded welcome letter to the pop star when she came to Denver in 2023, and posted a Photoshopped picture of himself listening to Swift’s re-released 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album to celebrate the Broncos' victory over the Chiefs last year, captioned, "Broncos broke their 16-game losing streak to the Chiefs with STYLE. Taylor's Blank Space was evident."

As his communications team told Westword last year: “Governor Polis and his family love Taylor Swift’s Style of songwriting and her ability to Shake it Off while managing the Delicate balance of being in the public eye, something he knows All Too Well now that he too went ‘Platinum’ this holiday season with his hit cover of José Feliciano’s classic Christmas song 'Feliz Navidad.'"
