Here’s what’s hot this week in music on the Front Range: On the concert front, new shows featuring the Avett Brothers, James Taylor, Blues Traveler and Gogol Bordello were announced; Gauntlet Hair, Hindershot and Fierce Bad Rabbit got spins on local radio; and recent albums from Van Halen, Dr. Dog and Leonard Cohen were the top sellers at our local record stores. This Just In: New Concerts and On-Sale Dates


After selling out Red Rocks last year, the Avett Brothers return to the amphitheatre for a two-night stand on Friday & Saturday, June 29 & 30 with City and Colour opening on Friday, and Devotchka warming things up on Saturday. Tickets ($37.75-$45.25) go sale on Saturday, February 18 at 10 a.m.

After selling out his Monday, July 23 show at Red Rocks, LiveNation has added second James Taylor show on Tuesday, July 24. Reserved tickets ($45-$85) go on sale Friday, February 17 at 10 a.m.

Blues Traveler returns to Red Rocks for its annual Fourth of July outing with Fitz & the Tantrums opening the show. Tickets ($36.75-$43.50) go sale on Saturday, February 18 at 10 a.m.

Finally, Gogol Bordello brings its gypsy punk back to the Boulder Theater on Wednesday, March 7 and at the Ogden Theatre on Thursday, March 8. Tickets for the Ogden ($34.75/$40) and the Boulder Theater ($42.50) both go on sale pm Friday, February 17 at 10 a.m.
