The hoopla yesterday over the naming of the latest royal baby – Charlotte Elizabeth Diana – got us wondering how popular the “Charlotte” moniker is in Colorado.
After all, it didn’t make our list of the ten most popular baby names for boys and girls, based on data from the Social Security Administration.
Turns out that “Charlotte” just missed inclusion, though: It was number eleven in 2013, the most recent year for which figures are available.
As for the least popular baby names for girls in Colorado, the SSA limits its list to names with a minimum of five recurrences, to safeguard the privacy of those who name their offspring something really bizarre – and while a lot of the examples are fairly ordinary (other than sporting unusual spellings), others definitely stand out.
