Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.
Coohills, 1400 Wewatta Street, has launched a new summer concert series: Beats on the Creek will take place every Tuesday on the restaurant's patio -- and the adjacent bridge over Cherry Creek -- from 5 to 8:15 p.m.
"We're thrilled to be offering lower downtown a concert series in an urban setting," says co-owner Dian Coohill. "We'll also be supporting the Greenway Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving the beauty we enjoy right next to our restaurant."
The lineup of local acts includes Rob Drabkin tonight, Under a Blood Red Sky on July 24, Hazel Miller Band on July 31, and Blackberry Bushes String band on August 7.
Food, wine and cocktails will be available for purchase during the concerts and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Greenway Foundation; a nonprofit whose efforts to advance the South Platte River and its surrounding tributaries were recently profiled in Westword. For more information on Beats on the Creek, visit Coohills' Facebook page.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
