But less than three years later, Noisette has announced it is closing on June 14. "Unfortunately, like many in our industry, we've faced ongoing challenges in the current economic climate that have made it unsustainable for us to continue," it shared in an Instagram post announcing the news.
The closure comes on the heels of the loss of another French eatery in the neighborhood: Jacques, which took over the former LoHi SteakBar space in September 2023 and shuttered last week.
In their comments on the Westword Facebook page, diners serve up suggestions for why French restaurants are closing. Says Matt:
If it's not a Chick-fil-A, Coloradans don't want it...Suggest Alan:
It's French; they tend to surrender when things get tough.Counters Luis:
Denver doesn’t appreciate French cuisine, unfortunately.Replies Agatha:
Why do you say that? French food might be the most delicious cuisine. It's the prices. My friend from Paris who lived in Denver for eight years but moved back to France said she was frustrated how much French fine dining was in the U.S. but not more provincial, simple French food. Americans associate French food with high costs, I think, and it can deter them from eating French.Confirms Lainey:
It’s the prices.Offers Catherine:
Go to Radex on 17th & Vine for the best French food!Suggests Susan:
Bistro Vendome is better than ever in Park Hill!Concludes Dalton:
Noisette was great; it will be missed. The issue with Denver is we have five new restaurants per week opening. My list of new restaurants to try is over fifty. What restaurants do you miss? What restaurants are you eager to try? Post a comment or share your thoughts at [email protected].
