As the local beer scene continues to evolve amid a changing market, there are some notable new additions in the works.

Troy Beer and his father, Ray, have been working for over three years to bring their vision for a new brewery in Littleton to life. Now, Littleton Brewing Company is set to open at 1201 West Littleton Boulevard celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, March 15 starting at 11 a.m. The first two hundred patrons will receive a commemorative glass with the purchase of a beer.

Its debut is much-anticipated — anxious future patrons have taken to social media, including Instagram and Reddit, to continuously ask when the ambitious new build would open. Finally, the wait is finally over.

The Beers are from Littleton, and they remember when the building was formerly an autobody shop. Troy had continued to drive by the spot for years, imagining that it would be redeveloped. Eventually, he inquired himself, which led to the acquisition and a grand plan for a brand-new brewery.

The space includes a large front biergarten and a rooftop patio with dramatic Front Range views. Two bars, including one on the roof, will pour beers, and there will be a full kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven.

The brewhouse is a striking stainless kit made by Deutsche Equipment. It's built for decoction mashing, a traditional lager brewing technique in which part of a mash is brought to a boil before being added back to the main mash. This technique can create a unique flavor and add additional fermentable sugars to the beer, resulting in a slightly richer yet drier lager. Horizontal lagering tanks are also included in the brewhouse, a favored piece of equipment among Denver lager breweries like Bierstadt Lagerhaus and Cohesion Brewing.

Littleton Brewing Company has brought on head brewer Wayne Waananen, formerly of Station 26 Brewing, Rockyard Brewing, Sandlot at Coors Field, Hub Cap Brewery and more. Last fall, Waananen told Westword that he was excited to start out with such a strong brewing system. He's talked about making lagers, wheat beers and hoppy beers. Among the first beers to roll out will be a tribute to Blue Moon called Half Moon which Waananen describes as a spiced white ale with coriander and Valencia orange peel.

Half Moon, like many other beers at LBC, will feature local malt. Loveland's Root Shoot is a major partner of the brewery, supplying high-quality malts like Genie Pale, White Wheat and Chit.

Littleton is home to a growing number of breweries. In 2021, Comet Brews opened at 5642 South Sycamore Street. Sanitas Brewing added its second location in the suburb in June 2023 and Denver Beer Company opened a location at 2409 Main Street that December, around the same time that Living the Dream took over the Grist taproom at the Sterling Center. Last year, Zymos Brewing debuted at 5180 South Lowell Boulevard.

Littleton Brewing Company hopes to carve its own unique path and is very focused on the taproom. In fact, beyond the occasional keg being sent to a friend's bar or brewery, Littleton Brewing Company doesn't plan to distribute much at all.
