TRVE Brewing Co., Denver's heavy metal brewery, will have its last call on Saturday, July 12, after nearly fourteen years on Broadway. TRVE founder Nick Nunns shared the news on Instagram on Thursday.

"It hasn’t been an easy choice, but this brewery has run its course and for a huge number of reasons it’s the right time to send this thing off into the lake trailed by a fiery arrow," he said. "Ultimately, this brewery has provided me with things that cannot be measured by capitalism, no matter how hard that vicious and broken machine may fumble around with spreadsheets and ledgers and trying. I am rich beyond measure and handshakes, high-fives and hugs."

Music City Hot Chicken, the Fort Collins outfit that opened an outpost in the brewery in 2021, is hoping to stay in the space and expand. But in the meantime, TRVE fans are pouring out their feelings on the Westword Facebook page and Instagram. Says Travis:
Massive loss. Best beer and fried chicken in Denver, hands down...
Adds unheckingbelievable:
Huge blow to Denver. Trve is one of the only bars left with a personality. South Broadway won't be the same without 'em. So many memories made at this place.
Responds errrrrk:
Broadway’s been going through a facelift. Now it’s trendy chains and cookie-cutter apartments.
Responds vaginapriest:
It's so sad. The neighborhood has lost so much of its personality in the last five years. I would hate to see us turn into another Cherry creek or RiNo...
Notes Jared:
Denver just got a little lamer. Fuck the landlords.
Adds Dustin:
Fuck's sake. Outside of my friends that haven't left, I am going to run out of things to miss about Denver in short order.
Counters Tony:
I am a regular of TRVE and Music City Hot Chicken who lives in Baker. I am very sad and will be stocking up on Dead Monk before they permanently close.

That said, every time anything closes in Baker certain people (including, sometimes, yourselves at Westword) use it to construct a “Baker is dying” narrative which is anything but the truth.

If taken at face value, Broadway in Baker should be littered with empty storefronts, but that’s not what’a happening. Yes, we just lost Señor Burritos, but the amazing Lucky Noodles took their place. We also lost Stoney’s Cantina but they were replaced by the incredibly chill MDE Lounge. There are surprisingly few vacant storefronts on this section of Broadway, and when one place closes up shop, a new one takes their place.

I hope MCHC is able to take over the lease and continue their fantastic food in the space. MCHC is half the reason I went to TRVE, one of the best chicken sandwich restaurants in Denver, and I wish them the best going forward.
And Garrett offers another ray of hope:
This sucks. Not trying to downplay how much this sucks, but Black Sky is another awesome metal brewery.
