Today: Food for thought at City O' City, Frasca, Dino's and the Denver Library

When you're plunging back into the work week after two days of freedom, it's comforting to know that others are continuing their work, too. Today four different series will serve up very different culinary events --- any one of which should gt your week off to a good start.

First up: If you dine at Dino's,10040 West Colfax Avenue in Lakewood, between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., a portion of the day's proceeds will benefit the Zarlengo Foundation. For details, call 303-238-7393.

The Denver Central Library, 10 West 14th Avenue Parkway, is presenting "Food Fight: Retaking Our Plates," a film series focusing on food. What's On Your Plate? will screen from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, and admission is free; call 720-865-1111 or visit http://denverlibrary.org/fresh.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
