Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib proved how salty we Coloradans can get when our weekends don't go right. But there's no need to stick your finger in someone's eye this weekend because there's too much fun to be had coloring books, looking at art and celebrating Denver pride. Drop us a comment if you know of anything we missed for this list and check out the Westword calendar for more events.

Newhouse Hotel Facebook

Vacancy? No at Newhouse Hotel (6 p.m. Friday, free)
Sure, it's a seedy hotel with a lawless history, and that's exactly why you have to peep this art show. The place could easily be a set in a Coen Brothers movie with the long hallway to the counter featuring a grand piano and eerie landscape portraits. The evening features work from the CU Boulder MFA Candidates, who are undertaking the task of creating works specifically for the hotel; their theme is the dualites of private/public, hidden/buried, concealed/revealed. In a place with an underground tunnel network created for liquor smuggling and adultery, it should be real interesting.

Gildar Gallery Facebook

Where The Hell Is Babylon at Gildar Gallery (6 p.m. Friday, free)
Zach Reini is a bit of a local art-scene celebrity. His works are archived relics of historical objects, and are deeply rooted in symbolism. See his apocalyptic renditions at the gallery and check out his statement here for more insight to an artist you should know.

Grand Opening of the I Heart Denver Store at Southwest Plaza Mall (10 a.m. Saturday, free)
The store devoted to all things awesome about Denver is expanding all the way to the southwest corner of Littleton. Help Samuel Schimek spread that Denver pride all over by stopping by the new shop and checking out all the goods from a collective of local designers and artists. Grab a shirt or a beer mug so people know you heart this town.

Adult Coloring Movement at Barnes & Noble (12 p.m. Saturday, free)
Can you remember the last time you put down your social media device, opened up a fresh pack of Crayola's and just went to town on a coloring book? Coloring books for adults are all the rage these days for this generation of new adults who refuse to grow up. Visit your local Barnes & Noble to get down on some serious hatching and shading. Don't forget that smartphone to upload your work into a nationwide coloring contest as well.

The Auspicious Adventures of an Improbable Princess at Boulder Public Library (2 p.m. Sunday, free)
Just like coloring with Crayons (see above) this shadow puppet show is another great throwback to the simpler days of youth. Catch one of two performances that were inspired by the Indian epic The Mahabharata and incorporate an Indonesian style of shadow puppetry. An original score will accompany the show and be played live. It's suitable for kids over the age of ten, so check it on out.

Lucha Libre & Laughs at The Oriental Theater (7 p.m., Sunday, $10)
We love giving a shout out to the show that makes you both laugh and cringe at the same time. It's really the only place around where you can see a pile driver followed by jokes from your favorite local comedians, like Andrew Orvedahl, Anthony Crawford and more. Once the bell rings, feast your eyes on a triple threat match and plenty of mayhem. Show your co-workers some new wrestling moves on Monday.
