If you're looking for something to be grateful for this weekend, look no further than Gratitude, an all-night party featuring producer/songster/DJ Alexander East, the man behind Planet East Recordings. This Minneapolis-based deep-house heavyweight has laid down vocals for Jake Childs and Chicago house godfather Derrick Carter, and he's had his own productions recorded on the OM, Freerange, Amenti and Nordic Trax labels. His sexy, funky house tracks layer sassy, melodic effects over juicy, booty-shaking beats. East is a multi-talented musical phenomenon; this will be his second-ever visit to the Mile High City and his first since 2006. Don't miss his set with locals Rescue, Khalib, Ejay and Brett Starr on Saturday, November 27, at Theory & Practice, 738 Santa Fe Drive. The music starts at 10 p.m., and East is slated to hit the decks as the bars close.
