Multiple Gunshots Kill Man on Nome Street, No Suspect Information

Last night, gunfire erupted in an apartment complex in Aurora.

When police arrived, the victim, who'd been hit multiple times, was still alive.

Unfortunately, he subsequently succumbed to his injuries according to an Aurora Police Department announcement shared early this morning.

And at this writing, law enforcers haven't released any information about a suspect or suspects.

The incident took place on the 1500 block of Nome Street, just north of Colfax. The area is captured in the following interactive graphic; if you have problems seeing the image, click "View on Google Maps."


At approximately 10:12 p.m. last night, August 13, an APD dispatcher received a call about the shooting.

Officers responded to an apartment on Nome, where they found the victim.


Do the cops have an idea about who might have committed this crime?

A statement from the department — "We are not releasing the name of anyone involved at this time" — suggests that they know about more people beyond the victim, whose identity will be released by the Adams County Coroner's Office following next-of-kin notification.

Until then, the APD is encouraging anyone with information about the shooting to contact Agent Mehl with the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit at 303-739-6213 or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 in the case.
