But whether you’re going to a game or not, Opening Day is an excuse to don some purple gear and take advantage of all the fun that local restaurants and bars have planned.
Here are the best specials you can score on Friday, April 4 – plus a rundown of the new Take Me Out to LoDo program, which includes game day deals for anyone with a same-day ticket all season long.

Dairy Block
This LoDo micro district has a ton of Rockies-themed fun planned all weekend long, including a Charlie Blackmon lookalike contest from 4 to 6 p.m. on April 5. Here are the Opening Day food and drink specials:
Get libations from pop-up bars in the Alley by Poka Lola Social Club, Blanchard Family Wines, Deviation and For[a]ged.
Denver Milk Market will pouring Coors and Coors Light specials in Stranded Pilgrim, with $6 Biker Jim hot dogs and ice cream by Little Man.
Kachina Cantina will be open from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. with drink specials including a Margarita on the Rockies for $10 and Game Day bites including tacos, empanadas, nachos and more, plus look for its elote cart on the patio.
Poka Lola Social Club will be serving purple Butterfly Shots for $8 and the Bad News Bears, a frozen Don Julio Blanco, for $16.
Blanchard Family Wines is pouring purple wine paired with popcorn all weekend long.
Pair Westbound & Down’s beers with a special double smashburgers featuring Rugby Scott Wagyu beef for $15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Union Station Patio Party
The Opening Day festivities start at 10 a.m. and include to-be-announced food and drink specials. Sip Union Station, Terminal Bar and Ratio Beerworks collab brew Cityscapes Mexican-style Lager and catch Prince tribute band Paizley Park starting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will also be a 360 photo booth.
Los Chingones Rooftop Party The OG Los Chingones at 2463 Larimer Street is throwing its annual Opening Day rooftop party from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Specials include $3 Montucky cans plus $1 Montucky cans for five minutes after every Rockies home run. You can also opt for a Montucky beer bucket with six cans for $15, or an $8 a Montucky and Milagro shot. The Dingerita, a purple Milagro coin-style margarita, is $11. Food specials include a salsa trio in a Rockies helmet for $5, nachos for $10 and a family-style platter with salsa, guacamole, queso, elote and six tacos for $50.
Urban Farmer Brunch This modern steakhouse at the Oxford Hotel is hosting an Opening Day brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The menu includes two specials: Mile High Waffle with blueberry whipped cream, blue spirulina and pistachio crumble; and a smashburger with caramelized onions, barbecue sauce, Bayley Hazen blue cheese and battered jalapenos. Reservations are recommended.
The Block Distilling Co.
This RiNo distillery is serving up a special purple cocktail for Opening Day. Swing by anytime for the Curveball made with coconut oil fat-washed vodka, orange liqueur, ube, cinnamon and lime.
Ambler
This Jack Kerouac-inspired restaurant opened adjacent to the Hotel Indigo behind Union Station last year. On Opening Day, it’s rolling out a special Ballpark Bites menu, available April 4-6. It includes a variety of Grand Slam Sausages served on a bun with a side of potatoes for $14 each; $13 cheeseburger or corned beef sliders; $14 bison chili cheese fries; and house made caramel corn for $8.
This is the first Opening Day for Ajax, which will be dishing out dry-aged hot dogs.
The Denver Dish
Ajax
An offshoot of the Aspen original, Ajax opened inside Limelight Denver last year and now, it’s throwing its first Opening Day picnic in the Limelight Denver Porte-Cochere from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Swing by for dry-aged hot dogs with chips, Limelight Lagers and purple margaritas for $5 each. There will also be a DJ, a Rockies spirit contest and games. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the Limelight Community Fund.
Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant
The LoDo location of this local chain known for its strong margs is serving up game day specials on April 4 and all season long. Any guests attending a Rockies, Nuggets or Avalanche home game can visit the Rio in LoDo and show a ticket to receive $3 off Classic Rio Margaritas and $3 off quesadillas. On Opening Day, it will be serving a purple-hued version of its famous marg.
Wonderyard
This Ballpark spot is hosting a pre-game celebration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Rockies-themed cocktails, cotton candy, an all-day DJ, photo activities with baseball props, a price wheel and games like cornhole and beer pong. Get more info at wonderyard.com.
ViewHouse
Just a block from Coors Field, Viewhouse is always a hot spot for Opening Day. This year’s festivities run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, April 4 to Sunday, April 6. Expect drink specials, a live DJ, games, giveaways and gameday bites plus volleyball games and a hot dog eating contest on Sunday. More info can be found at viewhouse.com.
Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar
This LoDo location of this seafood favorite is opening early at 11 a.m. and serving up gumbo-topped hot dogs and Jax Sea Dogs topped with mustard, hot sauce and crab meat on Opening Day.
Wynkoop Brewing Company Colorado’s first brewpub is opening at 9 a.m. for Opening Day. Stop by for special like the whiskey-based Rockies Smash for $10, a footlong hotdog for $8 or a footlong and a crowler of Uber Lager or Cooperstown for $15.
McGregor Square is always packed with fans on Rockies game days.
