The BSide opened a year ago on East 17th Avenue and quickly earned recognition for its fried chicken and beer list. The bar was Justin Lloyd’s second project after taking Star Bar, a longtime Larimer Street dive, from a musty and decaying cavern to a hip but still down-to-earth tap room.
But success in one part of town doesn’t necessarily guarantee customers at a new location. BeerAdvocate co-founder Todd Alstrom reported on the BA website last night that the BSide shut down for good after a friends and family sendoff at the bar.
The rambling, conjoined houses that the BSide occupied previously held pizza joints Serioz and Pasquini’s before that. The District made its debut right next door almost concurrently with the BSide; it’s still open.

If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
