During the September 10 presidential debate, Donald Trump name-checked Aurora: "You look at Springfield, Ohio. You look at Aurora in Colorado. They are taking over the towns. They're taking over the buildings. They're going in violently." A week later, he promised to visit Aurora within two weeks.

Better late than never: On October 7, his campaign announced that Trump would be in Aurora for a rally today, October 11.

Follow Westword's live blog during Donald Trump's Aurora campaign rally for the latest updates.

Where Is the Trump Rally in Aurora?

Donald Trump will be at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center, 6700 North Gaylord Rockies Boulevard, Aurora. Fair warning: Since the only way into the facility is 64th Avenue, you can expect some major traffic jams.

What Time Is the Aurora Trump Rally?

The rally is slated to start at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 11. Doors will open at 9 a.m. According to the campaign, tickets are sold out. If you don't have one, don't expect to get in. (The ballroom where the rally will be held reportedly holds 10,000 people.)

Where Else Can I See Trump?

As far as we know, this will be Trump's only public appearance; he has to be at a rally in Nevada later today. But his appearance will be livestreamed in many locations.

When Was Trump Last in Colorado?

Although Trump was in Aspen for a private fundraiser in August, he has not made a public appearance in the state since a rally in Colorado Springs in early 2020.

What Can I Do to Protest This Rally?

You can show support for Aurora immigrants by eating at Mango House, which has been helping refugees, asylum-seekers and undocumented people in Aurora from a space at 10180 East Colfax Avenue. (It's on our list of the top ten restaurants in Aurora.)

"No, the Venezuelans are not taking over the neighborhood," says Mango House founder Dr. PJ Parmar. "Yes. our city could do some things to avoid Walmart, Family Dollar and Giant Dollar all being boarded up in the last year on the same block next to us, or to improve policing. But there is an alternative narrative." Parmar notes that he has "many patients who work at the Gaylord."

Who Else Will Be at the Rally?

Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky, who calls herself "the loudest voice" on the Venezuelan gang issue, says she will speak at the rally. U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert, who currently represents southern and western Colorado but is now running for the 4th Congressional District, which wraps around Aurora, plans to be there. So do congressional candidates Gabe Evans (running in the 8th) and Jeff Crank (the 5th).

Mayor Mike Coffman — referred to as "Little Mikey" by Trump after the incumbent Republican lost his congressional seat to Democrat Jason Crow — has already said he will not be there. Don't expect Governor Jared Polis to greet the former president, either; he's holding his own press conference with other leading Democrats in another Aurora location. But you can count on an appearance from Dave Williams, who has somehow managed to stay at the head of the Colorado Republican Party and remains a staunch election denier.

Here's What Else the Colorado Republican Party Has to Say:

The Colorado Republican Party sent this message early October 10:

We cannot wait to see you at the Gaylord Hotel this Friday for a memorable and important event- President Trump's rally!

We have received many requests and questions about this rally, and we want to provide you with the most accurate information possible. We do not have access to tickets or ticketing information. This rally is run by President Trump's team, so unfortunately we cannot answer questions about your text or email confirmations.

The rally will be held in the Aurora Exhibition Hall at Gaylord, which is part of the Convention Center. This is the same area in which many of you attended the Western Conservative Summit.

The most common question we are receiving is, "What if I registered for a ticket but did not receive a confirmation?" You do not need a confirmation of a ticket to attend. Your phone and email address are on file. You may also use a ticket given to you by someone else. That said, a ticket does not guarantee you a place at the rally. A ticket only guarantees you the ability to stand in line for entry. There is a chance you may not receive a seat; remember, this is a chance to see President Trump!

The best way to increase your chances of attendance is to arrive at the Gaylord early. While doors open at 9:00 AM, the lines for entry will be packed by 7:00 AM, if not 5:00 AM. You should arrive as early as possible and plan to stand in line most of the day. We are hearing that many people will start lining up on Thursday night, so again…you cannot arrive too early. To make the waiting experience more comfortable, consider bringing snacks, water, and chairs.

There is no onsite parking for this event! Only hotel guests will be permitted to park onsite. If you would like to reserve a room, Gaylord still has rooms available.

There will be parking for attendees in the surrounding areas. The parking lots at 56th and Himalaya and 61st and Pena are available for parking. There are shuttles that will take you to and from the hotel. You may need cash for shuttles and parking lots.

Please wear comfortable shoes if you are not staying at the Gaylord. In the event the shuttles are full, you may need to walk a long distance to the hotel.

Handicapped parking is available, but it is extremely limited. We have probably received over one hundred questions about handicapped parking, indicating the demand will rapidly outpace the supply of parking spaces. We are told these spaces will likely be taken by 7:00 AM Friday. You should plan to make alternative arrangements for handicapped parking.

According to the Gaylord’s GM, there will not be a designated handicapped entrance. Please plan ahead for your comfort and safety.

There will be a crowd of anti-Trump liberals outside the venue. Keep in mind, these unhinged progressives are angry and looking for attention and a confrontation. Please do not give them what they want.
