Denver has experienced a hot and dry fall so far – but on the one day when almost everyone would prefer unseasonable balmy temperatures to sweater weather, cold is settling in.
Although Wednesday, October 30, was the truly scary weather day this week, with frigid temperatures and mild precipitation, the predicted high for Denver on Halloween is just 59 degrees. That peak temperature will have passed before most people are off work and ready to embrace the holiday, though.
On Halloween, October 31, the small blessing is that the sun returns. Despite a likely high of 58, according to the NWS (other sites predict a high of 57), the day and night should be clear of precipitation. Trick-or-treat adventurers at least won’t encounter rain or snow, even if they do have to be a slutty nurse in a jacket.
During the evening, when most partying adults will hit the streets, temperatures will drop from the high to low 50s. By 7 p.m., temperatures will be in the 40s. The low is expected to be around 30.
Last year, Denver got five inches of snow three days before Halloween, so at least 2024 promises less slushy and icy roads and sidewalks than in 2023, even if it won’t be as warm as Denver residents might have hoped.
