Last week, Myrl Serra, DA for the 7th Judicial District, was arrested on an unlawful sexual conduct charge. And today brings news that veteran Denver Deputy Sheriff Mark Davis for investigation of sexual assault on a child. Davis is currently on leave from the department. Denver Police Department release:

On October 3, 2010, Denver Police arrested Mark Davis for investigation of Sexual Assault on a Child by a person in a Position of Trust. Davis is a Denver Deputy Sheriff who has lived in the Montbello area for over 20 years. Because of the nature of the investigation, Detectives are concerned that Davis may have victimized other children over the years some of which may be adults now. Police are asking for anyone who has information related to similar crimes involving Mark Davis to contact the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000 or call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). You can text to CRIMES (274637) then title DMCS and enter your message or send an e-mail to metro-denvercrimestoppers.com.

Davis has been placed on leave from the Sheriffs Department pending the results of the investigation. The criminal matter that Davis is being investigated for does not involve his official duties or responsibilities as a Denver Deputy Sheriff and did not occur while he was on duty. Davis is being held in Jefferson County Jail. As this is a criminal investigation all questions relating to the specific charges and the process of the investigation should be referred to the Denver Police Department.
