Chef/restaurateur Troy Guard opened his first Bubu on Larimer Square in the summer of 2014. The spot took over the former home of TAG | Raw Bar, specializing in light and healthy bowls with an Asian bent. A few months later, Guard opened a second, larger Bubu in Lowry. But after dinner service tomorrow, May 7, Guard will shut down the Lowry Bubu, reopening the space on May 20 as Lucky Cat.

Before that happens, though, the interior will get a makeover and the patio will be redesigned just in time for summer weather. When it opens, the new restaurant will feature the chef’s interpretations of traditional Chinese dishes, and the drinks roster will feature sake, cocktails and beer; a new happy-hour menu of snacks and sushi will also be rolled out. A family menu and curbside pickup for takeout orders will cater to the Lowry neighborhood.

Lucky Cat will join North County, Masterpiece Kitchen, the Lowry Beer Garden and Cafe Mercato in Lowry’s Hangar 2 development. Bubu will remain open in Larimer Square.
