The bagel game in Denver has changed a lot recently. For years, Rosenberg's dominated with its traditional take on East Coast-style bagels — but last year, D.C.-born Call Your Mother expanded to the Mile High with a location on Tennyson Street.
Other notable additions include Rich Spirit from the owner of Bakery Four in Wheat Ridge and the newest entry, Odell's.
Call Your Mother's brightly colored, playful aesthetic combined with non-traditional flavor combinations have been a hit, creating a modern take on the classic Jewish deli. It now has four Colorado outposts, with a fifth opening soon at Denver Central Market, a RiNo food hall where it will take over the space that was formerly home to Culture Meat & Cheese, which closed in September.
"Ever since I started visiting Denver — my best friend and goddaughter live out here now — DCM has been a must-stop every time. I just love the whole vibe," says Call Your Mother co-founder Andrew Dana. "I knew it would be a real dream to open a CYM inside of the Market, but knew there was very little turnover. So when the opportunity presented itself, we had to jump. We're so excited to open in the heart of RiNo, and it's an honor to be a part of such an iconic Denver spot for lucky number five."
"We are so excited to bring a Jew-ish touch to DCM with the addition of Call Your Mother," says Tyler Gallup, director of operations at Denver Central Market. "Since they hit the Denver market, the people have made it clear that there is always room for more carbs — and we have to agree. We look forward to welcoming the CYM crew to the DCM family, and we're proud to be giving their concept a home in RiNo."
The Call Your Mother team is aiming for a late-fall opening.
