Last week, we released the latest edition of our list of the Top 100 Restaurants in Denver. Among the picks in the neighborhood favorites section is Fruition, which chef Alex Seidel opened at 1313 East Sixth Avenue in 2007.

Now its run is coming to an end, with the last service planned for January 12. "After eighteen incredible years, I've made the bittersweet decision to close the doors of Fruition," says Seidel in a statement announcing the news. "What began as a dream in our tiny kitchen on Sixth Avenue grew into something far beyond what I could have imagined. The magic of this space has always been about more than just the food; it's been about the connections made across our tables and the memories created in this dining room."

Fruition was Seidel's first restaurant, which he followed with Mercantile Dining & Provision inside Union Station a decade ago. In 2018, he won the James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest for that venture.

In 2022, he opened a Mercantile outpost at DIA; this year, Sage Hospitality Group took on the majority partner role of the original Mercantile.

“To every passionate and talented person who has been part of our team — from the cooks who tied on aprons in our humble kitchen to the servers and sommeliers who created unforgettable experiences in our dining room — you've poured your hearts into making Fruition special night after night,” notes Seidel. “It's been an honor to see where all of these talented people have gone after their time at Fruition, and I'm incredibly proud of the legacy we've created together."

The restaurant will continue dinner service during regular hours under its current executive chef, French Laundry alum Jarred Russell, until January 12, though it will be closed December 24-26 and January 1. Reservations are also open for its five-course New Year's Eve tasting menu
