The park and pipe crew at Buttermilk is a well-oiled machine after a decade of hosting the Winter X Games, making crazy stuff like Torstein Horgmo's triple flip, Kelly Clark's 1080 and Shaun White's tight pants possible, year after year. And the best part? Each year, Buttermilk's left with a world-class park and pipe for the rest of the season when it's all said and done.

This week's Aspen/Snowmass Open is your chance to grab some of that Winter X glory (and a piece of the $50,000 prize purse) for yourself: The annual contest uses the X Games' superpipe and slopestyle courses, with open qualifiers for anyone who registers. Registration (between $75 and $115, depending on the event) and practice sessions are open today through 4 p.m., followed by a mandatory riders meeting. Men's Ski Slopestyle and Snowboard Superpipe qualifiers are tomorrow, and there are qualifying and finals events on Friday and through the weekend.

For registration and more information, visit AspenSnowmass.com. It's been dumping up in Aspen this week, so you might want to leave the tight pants look to White this year.
