Denver has a thriving fashion scene and tons of great local designers, but thanks to Kevin Larson, a new type of fashion is popping in this town. This Saturday, April 26, you can experience a balloon couture fashion show as part of Kevin Larson's Sixth Annual Birthday Bash.
The fashion show will feature ball gowns and themed costumes, including animals and Carmen Miranda, and all of the clothing will be created from balloons by Quill, a local professional balloon sculptor. In addition to the unique fashion show, expect to hear DJs Brian Howe, Devo and MLE.
"This is something different that I've never seen done in Denver," says Larson. "Every year we come up with a crazy, bizarre idea." Last year's bash featured Mini Kiss, a Kiss tribute band comprised of little people.
Expect Kevin Larson and company to go all out for this one, especially since this is the first big nightlife bash to be held at the new Curtis Hotel. The party will take place in the second floor banquet rooms; dinner specials at the downstairs Corner Office and special room rates are available. Attendees are encouraged to wear club attire (ballooned-theme clothing optional), and VIPs will each get their own red helium balloon..
General admission is $20 and VIP is $35 at the door or through www.blacktie-denver.com. The 21-and-over event begins at 9 p.m. at the Curtis Hotel, 1405 Curtis Street. For more information, visit www.kevinlarsonpresents.com.
