Wanted: Fresh meat for Backbeat

Alright, now that the Showcase is in the rearview and things have started calming down around here for us, making this the perfect time for us to add some new members to our team to help us cover the scene even more thoroughly. With that in mind, we're on the hunt for new talent. And what better place to find the folks we're looking for than right here on the blog.

For starters, if you're reading this, we're assuming your sensibilities are already closely aligned with ours (ie., you dig local music). So, if you live in the Denver metro area, are immersed in the local scene, have a knack for stringing words together in a way that's legible, intelligent, insightful and entertaining and -- perhaps most importantly -- you have an opinion that you're not afraid to express at the risk of alienating friends/family/enemies, we're looking for you.

Specifically, we're looking to expand our coverage in the areas of dance, electro, hip-hop, jam, world and jazz. If you're knowledgeable in any of those genres, drop us a line.

Hint hint: This should go really without saying, but if it's a writing gig you seek, your initial correspondence with us should jump off the page. We're looking for sharp writers with a strong, distinct voice. Got it? Great. Feel free to drop us a line. Operators are standing by.

KEEP WESTWORD FREE... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
