The Swayback dudes have got to be way stoked this morning. Last night, around the time that they were announced as one of the twelve finalists in KTCL's Hometown for the Holidays, the guys were at Silo Sound Studios (formerly Macy Sound Studios) putting the wraps on their brand-new album with new drummer Carl Sorensen, who has stepped in to replace longtime timekeeper Martijn Bolster, who recently left the fold to return home to the Netherlands.

The as-yet-titled album, slated for release on Saturday, March 3, at the hi-dive, features a dozen songs that were recorded at a variety of studios, including Capitol Studios, Silo Sound Studios, the Blasting Room and Hideaway Studios in Salida, with Andy Johns, Jason Livermore, Jeff Kanan, Nick Sullivan and Marc Benning, respectively.

Of the twelve cuts, three are from the Andy Johns sessions, and there's a batch of newer songs, including a full band version of "St. Francis" and "What Death Cares About," the tune that secured the Swayback's spot in Hometown for the Holidays. In addition to the writing and recording the band's new album -- which is due out on Long Gone Lads, the band's own imprint, and features a pair of tracks that guitarist Adam Tymn sings lead on -- Swayback frontman Eric Halborg has been plenty busy with a brand new baby and working with Brendan Kelly on his new album, as well as recording a record from newer act called the Baltic, whose record will also be released on Long Gone Lads.
