The City Park Le Peep at York Street and 19th Avenue had seen better days when it closed in August; the white building with the green awnings was looking dated and shabby well before the last plate of pancakes sold. And once closed, it seemed destined for the wrecking ball, just another property slated for condo or apartment development. But the neighborhood still needs a good breakfast joint, so restaurateur Tim Doherty swept in and grabbed the spot and is in the process of turning it into his third outpost of Syrup.

The first Syrup opened in Cherry Creek in 2010, followed not long after by a second breakfast eatery in the heart of the downtown business district. The new Syrup, like its predecessors, will also offer lunch items like burgers and sandwiches to go with its sweet and savory breakfast and brunch menus.
