The Morrison Holiday Bar is known as "the local cure" by residents of the tiny town, and now the legendary watering hole has a new title: It's been named "Best Banquet Bar" by Coors. "Holiday Bar has been a great customer to us for a long time," said Pete Coors, who was on hand yesterday to present the plaque to the owners of Holiday Bar.
Morrison residents and beer fans from points beyond gathered at the bar on May 23 for the presentation; Morrison Holiday Bar is just one of two taverns in the country honored as a "Best Banquet Bar" by the company. "Their customers have been loyal to our brands and our products," Coors said. "It just seemed like the logical place." Keep reading for more photos. The current owners of the Holiday Bar told him that when they bought the place, there were only two taps. One was Coors Banquet and the other had a cup over it, covering the tap of the backup keg of Banquet. At the celebration, Coors also showcased a new bottle for its Banquet beer -- a stubby bottle that better represents what it looked like in the 1930s, right after Prohibition. The Banquet brand has been on the rise for the past seven years with customers, Coors said, and the new bottle is "a great way to give them something else and attract attention to the brand and move it along faster than it's already going."
