Go on a bar crawl with a long-dead cinema star tonight when Matthew Martin, Bette Davis impersonator extraordinaire, leads a Bette Davis Bar Crawl in anticipation of the October 30 Awful Things in Denver party being thrown by the Denver Public Library's Fresh City Life. The crawl starts at 8 p.m. at Hamburger Mary's, 700 East 17th Avenue; head to www.denverlibrary.org/fresh for more information.

For what will probably be a more low-key evening, head to Randolph's, 1776 Grant Street, for another round of Wine Tasting Thursday. From 5 to 7 p.m., you can enjoy a dozen different wines, hors d'ouevre and smooth jazz -- all for just $25. For more info, call 303-318-7272.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
