Once tucked away in a back parking lot, Safari Seconds thrift store just expanded into a street-facing storefront at 414 Broadway, a move that will surely give the store, a non-profit refugee resettlement project of the African Community Center, a new lease on life. Even in its old hole in the wall, Safari Seconds didn’t excape our notice (here’s what we said about it in 2006 and 2008), but now we can give the shop an unequivical thumbs-up as a go-to spot for any discerning thrifter.
As a way to show off its new facelift to the public, Safari Seconds will host a grand re-opening event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 7, replete with finger-licking Somali food, drumming and dancing, and a drawing for a free shopping spree, as well as a huge sale of just about everything you can think of. And that’s second to nothing. For information go here or call 303-722-4500.
