Argyll might bill itself as "a gastroPub," but it doesn't see itself as a neighborhood pub -- not unless you consider all of Denver just one big neighborhood. I live several miles and fifteen minutes from Cherry Creek (and that's if the lights on Speer are synchronized), and last night I found an Argyll grand-opening invitation/15 percent discount offer taped to my front door.

But underneath that 15 percent discount offer was an even more compelling reason to head to 2700 West Third Avenue, where Argyll opened last month in the former home of the Squealin' Pig: "Largest patio in Cherry Creek."

That's for now: Once Elway's starts its Wednesday-night concert series next month, the area around that steakhouse turns into one big patio. In June, the Cherry Cricket will also open its new patio, a big wrap-around. And miniBAR has designs on that large patio space outside the tiny sliver of a saloon that opened two weeks ago; at night, there will be no competition for seats with the nearby coffeehouse.

But right now, Argyll could well be the champ. It's open for lunch, dinner and brunch; for more info, go to www.argyllpub.com.
