Solera Restaurant & Wine Bar, 5410 East Colfax Avenue, is hosting a wine tasting happy hour tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. in the bar, which is as good a place as any to sip from a half dozen (or more) different South African wines, for $15 per person. (And the pours are generous.)
While you're there, and you know, getting all loopy, you may as well take advantage of Sorensen's happy hour food specials, because the board is a notable one: white truffle macaroni and cheese with peas and asparagus ($5); mixed green salad with a cherry vinaigrette ($3); Mediterranean mixed olives with preserved lemons ($2); Manchego cheese with membrillo and almonds ($3); Little neck clams with chorizo ($5); truffled fries with aioli ($3); and a mini cheese plate ($5).
Good food, good wine, good deal.
