Support the independent voice of Denver and help keep the future of Westword free.

If performance-on-the-fringe is your cup of tea, here's a great way to support it -- Silver and Gold: A Holiday Extravaganza, hosted by Band of Toughs at Naropa University at 7 p.m. Friday, focuses on a handful of qualifying Boulder fringe ensembles and their friends buy presenting three-minute, holiday-tinged introductions to their respective upcoming seasons.

Fractured song and dance and silliness are all promised, along with art installations, a kids' corner, a photo booth and a screening of the 1964 stop-action classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer; to get you in the mood, the Band of Toughs put together the following video teaser.

And because we know you love it, here's a Rudolph teaser, too. Don't you just love it when Rudolph's nose blinks?

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Denver with no paywalls.
